Voting Question: I am a single mom of a 12 year old Asperger' s son, where is the best North Carolina town to relocate to?

We currently live in Hampton Roads, VA, too much traffic, crime and no room to just "be a boy". My son loves nature, animals, history and rocks. I think the western area of NC would be a great place to foster his natural abilities, but also be safer. It would be great to find that "Mayberry" atmosphere and be be affordable.
